Business Women in are delighted to announce they have been shortlisted in the final 5 for the prestigious Excellence in People Engagement and Development Award at the British Quality Foundation (BQF) Excellence Awards 2021.

The BQF UK Excellence Awards, previously known as UK Quality awards, supports, promotes and celebrates good business practises and awards those who demonstrate excellence throughout their work. The Excellence in People Engagement and Development award “recognises those that engage, involve and invest in their people to develop capability and talent” (BQF).

BWi has been shortlisted for this award due to their hard work and dedication to the kickstart scheme and their passion to help young adults increase their employment prospects.

Michelle Eddahar, founder of Business Women in (BWi), has said:

“We are delighted to have been shortlisted for this award. This award is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the young adults who took part in the kickstart scheme and those who helped make it so successful. I am so proud of the progress our kickstarters have made. Due to the success of the scheme, we now have numerous kickstarters returning to education, finding work in their desired industries such as fashion and tourism, and choosing freelance work.”

BWi has taken on 100 kickstarters in total, with two cohorts of 50 starting in May and August this year. The kickstarters have had over 20hrs of workshops, learnt about marketing, developed skills in a range of areas such as branding and first aid and taken on side projects. These side projects include growing BWi’s social media, creating a kickstart and newsroom page on their website and carrying out behind the scenes work. Although there were so many kickstarters, Michelle ensured she worked with each one on an individual basis. This has enabled BWi to tailor the scheme to the kickstarters career aspirations and goals.
