BWI Meet ups: What to Expect

Whether online or in person, our Meet Ups look something like this:

10:00 am – Welcome & host introduction
10:10 am – Members introduction – time to talk about yourself & your business
11:45 am – Questions, guidance, support & advice. BWi updates

What makes our Meet Ups so different?

Unlike other networking meetups, ours have no 60-second timer, no judgement and definitely no pressure to act a certain way or conform to a sales-pitch stereotype. Instead, they come with bucket loads of support, understanding and a real desire to help each other succeed.

What about subscription fees and turning up every week?

You have the option of a few different ways to book your favourite Meet Up(s). You can:

Pay as you go: To keep things simple, you can pay £10 per Meet Up. There’s no obligation to attend on a regular basis (unless you want to, of course), the choice is yours.

Plus and Premium Memberships: Memberships are a great way to save on Meet Ups. You can pay a monthly subscription (£10 a month for plus, £15 a month for premium) and attend as many Meet Ups as you’d like.

Why attend, what’s in it for you?

Firstly, you’ll get to showcase your business to a diverse group of professionals and business owners. Then, you’ll get to share common goals, discuss your latest ideas and ask for help if you need to. Most importantly, you’ll get to build long term relationships, find clients and collaborators and forge lasting friendships.

As we are a supportive and inclusive community, it is important to us and our community to run our events at accessible venues that provide facilities for those with disabilities or long-term health issues. We are open to hearing about how we can accommodate your needs and create a safe space for you. We want you to have confidence in booking with us and attending our events.

I have attended a LOT of the in-person meetups, as well online workshops they provide. I always take away something from each I attend and come away with loads more ideas I can implement into my business due to the wealth of knowledge held by all members.

The in-person meet-ups and Big Events are a highlight. The women are incredibly friendly and supportive and it’s been a great way to build leads for my marketing business.

Beyond networking, the workshops are fantastic value and have helped me grow my skills. One standout was Speak Like a Pro with voice and communications coach Helen Langford: a fun, engaging 2.5-hour session packed with practical tips. It left me feeling empowered about public speaking, which I’ve always found intimidating.

 Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I joined my first BWI networking meeting in January with a little trepidation as I have done plenty of networking in the past and not all of the organisations are a fit for me.

I can honestly say that BWI is a genuinely warm, supportive safe space. It is amazing value financially but the value of getting together with like-minded women in business who have got your back, where there is no judgement, where people genuinely want to help, where you can be vulnerable, where you can make friends and receive advice is invaluable.

I would say the only downside is for your pockets, as you learn about so many amazing businesses that you want to spend money with!!

Yesterday I bit the bullet and joined one of their online meet-ups - it was nothing like I expected and it was just what I needed to give me a bit of a kick start! The group was diverse and the host (Michelle herself) was amazing, ensuring we all had some time to share our story and ask any questions of other participants.

If anyone asked me to describe BWI, I'd say it's networking but not as we know it - it feels like a family and I'm really pleased I took the plunge.

I launched my HR consultancy with big ideas, a bulletproof knowledge of employee relations, and the enthusiasm of a woman fuelled by caffeine and sheer grit. What I didn’t have? A community. A network. A space where I could be the businesswoman, the dog mum, the true crime podcast junkie, and the one navigating the glorious chaos of self-employment.

Then I stumbled across Business Women In, and honestly, it felt like I’d found the secret door to Narnia, only instead of fauns and Turkish Delight, it was full of phenomenal women who just get it. And not in a surface-level “networking brunch” sort of way, this is real connection, with real people who’ve got your back and will also call you out (kindly) when you need a nudge forward.

The workshops? Think power-packed, straight-talking sessions on everything from AI hacks to marketing mindset. Not one ounce of fluff, just useful, practical advice from women who've walked the walk. And if you miss one? No panic, there’s a library of replays, which I dip into with a brew and a notepad like it's Netflix for business growth.

And the meet-ups! Whether they’re online or in a cosy local venue, they’re warm, welcoming, and real. No stiff intros, no pitching unless you want to, just honest chats, shared wisdom, a few belly laughs, and more than a couple of “Oh my god, ME TOO!” moments.

Here’s the truth: being a woman in business can be lonely. Especially when you’re spinning plates, wondering if you’re mad to leave the 9–5, and desperately trying to do All The Things (usually while stepping over a dog toy and muting a barking fit mid-Zoom). BWi reminded me I don’t have to do it alone. In fact, I shouldn’t.

I’ve found support, yes, but also accountability, visibility, referrals, and friendships I genuinely treasure. I’ve laughed, learned, and landed new opportunities that wouldn’t have come my way otherwise.

So if you’re on the fence, get off it. Whether you’re just starting out or scaling up, this community will meet you where you are, celebrate where you’re going, and hand you a cuppa (or a G&T) for the journey.

I have attended meetings in various locations in my area, and it has been a real boost to my business. Both groups, their hosts and the BWI community as a whole are so supportive, friendly and just good for the soul. Attending the meet ups have transformed my business and boosted my mental health and confidence. Being a business owner can be a lonely place and coming to the meet ups not only gets me out of my home office but gives me the opportunity to meet so many interesting, inspirational women and gain support I just wouldn't get anywhere else. FAQs

Online Meet ups - what to wear, what to do if the dog barks or kids are jumping around behind me?

We want you to join our online meet ups and feel comfortable doing it. We know how life has changed and our Online Meet Ups reflect that. That’s why we’re happy for you to mute your mic or switch off your camera if something crops up.

What we do ask is that you’re ready to join the meeting with a few minutes to spare so we can let you in on time at 9:55am. Even though you’re at home, please remember to dress appropriately for networking (you can still keep your slippers on, of course!) and make sure you have all your business info and links ready to share in the chat box.

In Person Meet ups - What to wear and bring along?

Even though this is an informal business Meet Up, you’ll want to make a good impression. As you are connecting with potential new clients, wearing something smart/casual is the way to go.

What should you bring with you?

Apart from your best smile, bring business cards, leaflets and products if you have any. Meet Ups start at 10:00 am so arrive anytime from 9.55 am, grab yourself a cuppa and find someone to chat to. If you’re a little nervous, you can chat to your host who will be happy to introduce you to others. Then take a seat and get ready for the introductions; the perfect opportunity to introduce yourself and your business to the group. Please note this is optional, so if you are not ready to talk in front of a group, there is no judgement whatsoever if you decide to opt-out.

What is the refund policy?

For Pay as You Go Members: We will happily transfer or refund, but only up to 7 days before the date of the Meet Up. This is to cover costs incurred by BWi. You are, however, welcome to pass your place to someone else providing you email with the change of name.

When will I receive the Zoom link for my Online Meet Up?

You will receive your Zoom link straight away in your booking confirmation email. We’d recommend flagging this email so you can refer back to it but we will also send the Zoom link on the morning of your Meet Up.

If you haven’t received an email from us and it’s not in your Junk folder, please email book@businesswomenin.org and we can get it sorted for you.

Photography

Our Meet Ups are photographed, for display, distribution and broadcast across all BWi platforms. By attending this Meet Up you understand that you may be photographed in group shots. If you do not wish this to happen, please email info@businesswomenin.org prior to the Meet Up. All photographs remain the property of Business Women in.

BWi Meet Ups are the BEST way to get to know like-minded business women, develop working relationships, find collaborators and forge lasting friendships. Of course, if you’re not used to networking or feel a little shy don’t worry, your host will take you under their wing and introduce you to other members. They will also make sure you feel comfortable before asking you to speak.
